Last day to file
Monday, May 17, 2027
- The general deadline is May 15.
- Saturday, May 15, 2027 is a weekend or legal holiday, so the deadline moves to the next business day (Tax Code §1.06).
How the deadline works
An ordinary protest is due by May 15 or the 30th day after your notice of appraised value was delivered, whichever is later (Tax Code §41.44(a)(1)). A mailed notice is presumed delivered on the day it was mailed, which is why the date on the notice is used here. If the last day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal state or national holiday, a filing on the next business day is on time.
- Online: on time if the appraisal district's server receives it by the deadline.
- By mail: on time if postmarked on or before the deadline.
This calculator covers the ordinary deadline for a homeowner's value protest. Late protests for good cause, failure-to-deliver-notice protests, and other special deadlines have different rules. See the deadline guide.

General information, not legal advice. Your notice of appraised value states the deadline that applies to your property; when in doubt, file early or confirm with your appraisal district.
