Everything you need to know about protesting your Texas property tax.
We help Texas homeowners protest their property tax appraisals. Our software builds your evidence, fills out the protest form, and files it with the county on your behalf.
$49 per property, per year. That's it. No contingency fees, no percentage of savings, no hidden charges.
Yes. You are the legal filer on every protest. lowering.tax is software that helps you prepare and submit your filing. We never act as your agent or representative.
About 10 minutes from start to filed protest. 5 minutes of input (including the interview), and we handle the rest.
The $49 fee covers the software, evidence packet, and filing. We don't guarantee a specific outcome, but our evidence packets are built to maximize your chances.
We're launching with Travis County (Austin). Harris County (Houston) and Dallas County are coming next.
Those services charge 25-40% of your savings and file as your agent using portfolio-level comp analysis. lowering.tax is $49 flat, interviews you about your specific property conditions (roof age, HVAC, foundation, kitchen updates), builds a property-specific evidence packet with photos, and you file as the homeowner. Different approach, different level of detail.
A contingency fee means the more they save you, the more you pay them. On a $2,000 tax savings, a 25% fee is $500. A 35% fee is $700. You pay us $49 whether your savings is $200 or $5,000. You keep what you save.
If your prior service got a reduction using comps alone, we can often find additional value they missed. Portfolio services don't ask about your 20-year-old HVAC, your original kitchen, or the drainage problem in your backyard. We do.
When an agent files Form 50-162, the Appraisal Review Board sees the same company dozens of times a day. Owner-filed protests show the board that a homeowner took the time to document their case. We give you the evidence packet to make that filing count.
